Danny Stein: I love to clean, snatch, deadlift, and squat

 

Occupation? Teacher and football  coach at Mainland High School.  I am teaching a new class this year called Fitness Physiology and I am the 3b514c91-4127-41c2-97fa-13b58a5bf132Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, as well as coach Offensive line for the football team.

When did you start CFPO? I started at CFPO in January of this year.

What brought you to CrossFit Port Orange? I had always wanted to try a CrossFit class out, but was tentative at doing so.  I followed CFPO on Facebook and one day I got a message from Sam asking if I’d like to come by the gym sometime and check it out.  I was hesitant at first, but once I had my first meeting with Kyle and Sam I knew I was in the right place!

 What was your first impression? Has that changed? If so, how?  I’m not going to lie, I was a little nervous during my first class.  It was a 5:00pm class with coach Shane.  I had done CrossFit type workouts for years in my garage, but never experienced the real thing before.  At that class everyone was very welcoming and friendly.  There were no cliques or anything like that.  Coach Shane was awesome at guiding me through my first workout and as I would come to find out, all of the coaches are very knowledgeable and will put you in position to succeed!  My impression hasn’t changed at all really.  CFPO has become like a second family to me and I wouldn’t trade my experiences there for anything!13770272_645276362290044_3960069761914423728_n

What’s your biggest accomplishment so far?  So far I would have to say losing 20lbs would be the biggest accomplishment for me so far, but there are so many!  I learned how to do double unders, toes to bar, kipping pull-ups, my conditioning has improved as well as my strength…I could go on and on!

What’s your next big accomplishment going to be?  My next goal is to be able to squat over 400lbs again.  In the past I’ve always injured myself, but now that I have proper coaching I believe I’m going in the right direction!  A power clean of 275 wouldn’t hurt either!

What is your favorite exercise?  Anything with a barbell!  I love to clean, snatch, deadlift, and squat!  Hopefully soon pull-ups will be on my list of
favorites!

What’s your favorite part about CrossFit Port Orange?  The family atmosphere!  No one is going to judge you if you can’t do something right the first time, everyone is super supportive, and even though we are all dying at the end of a workout, everyone will come up and give you a high five and tell you how awesome you did.  It’s the little things like those that keep me coming back every single day!
