Wayne Walker: I Did That Workout! YES!
What brought you to CrossFit?
At 53 my body was starting to fail me. A brother RECON MARINE, Tracy Cullen, had been telling me about CrossFit for years. However, I never listened! It just went in one ear out the other! That was until I kept injuring my back at work. I went to doctors to try to fix the problem and every doctor told me the same thing. They all said my core was weak lol! After that, which was about 4 months ago, I took matters into my own hands and Googled CrossFit and CrossFit Port Orange came up. So, here I am! I’ve never been a gym rat/weight lifting kinda guy. I’m a
push-ups, sit-ups, 3 mile run, brain washed Marine!
From the moment when I walked into CrossFit Port Orange the coaches and members made me feel welcome! No intimidation at all! No embarrassment! I have no weightlifting experience at all, but that’s okay because all of the coaches and fellow members assist with the group training! It’s the closest training to Marine Corps boot camp that I have found!! In four months of training, three days a week, I can’t remember doing the same work out! It’s always a surprise!
Favorite/least favorite workout/movement?
I have no favorite workout. I hate them ALL, at least until we are finished! Then after we cool down and stretch, on my way home think to myself, I DID THAT WORKOUT! YES!
What is your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment is mentally still coming, to get physically pushed to my human limits SAFELY without injury. My core is stronger already, and now that I know what’s going on I’m working on lifting more weight!
What is your favorite CrossFit Port Orange Story?
No favorite story’s to share yet. I’m just focused on keeping up, but I will say I’ve lost 25lbs, and have a mild 8 pack core in just four months without dieting of any kind! I’m very happy with my CrossFit lifestyle and experience.
